Students will learn the basics of drawing with graphite pencils.  They will learn how to choose the best supplies, how to highlight, shadow, and use a light source in their artwork.  They will learn value and tone as well as proportion to create depth.  They will learn about the Rule of Thirds to make their drawings pleasing to the eye.   Drawings will include landscapes, animals, still life, and self portraits.
